Sochor
16. 7. 1914 - 16. 8. 1950
After anection of Czechoslovakia send to work to Germany. Runaway to USSR, joined czech military unit. Fought near Zhashkov (whereever it is - trasscribed from czech) and Kiev. HSU since 1943. Btw. Someone told me that polish general Karol Świerczewski was HSU, but source is not very good. Anyone has the idea if it's true? |

Mysterys
Al,
Stoianov-Zayimov is a bit of a mystery at the moment as is Goranov and Wysotsky. ( No Photos no info) I haven't found any details as to Karol Świerczewski being awarded the HSU. Antonín Sochor (16.7.1914 - 16.8.1950) died in strange circumstances ("car accident") Worth reserching! I think the problem could be the translations of the names from one language to another. The research goes on! Eddie.

I have found artickle on Sochor's death, but the text is in czech and is quite complex so it surpasses my ability to understand this language. btw. Świerczewski also died in suspicious situation (e.g. he was shot in the back). Howerever I have also found nothing on him being HSU. The best source to check that would be his biogram in a special dictionary, unfortunately this dictionary ends on "r" so far. But if he is not listed, than perhaps he wasn't... I haven't found any more info on Wysocki and Krzywoń, but I will probbably have their fotos soon, as I have found someone willing to share the pics. You are doing a gigantic amount of work, Eddie! When this work is compleated, it will probably be the only full compendium of non-sovit HSU (at least the only one I know of, and I have been looking hard this day). |
