Hello, gang.
I'm back again. I'm sitting here at home, snowed-in, nothing to do but feed the birds outside. I got to digging around and found a nice framed shadowbox. I thought it would be perfect for a single piece such as the Order of Alexander Nevsky or any other upper-end piece. This frame has all the bases covered for the screwposts on the Soviet awards. There is at least a full 1/2" of room from the glass to the base where the award would be attached. Behind this mounting wall there is another 1/2" of free space. It's ideal. I find these frames at craft shops and at stores like Walmart or Target. They're pretty generic. Some are actually constructed of nice hardwood. Here are some pictures: Respects. You're right. That's my Newyears resolution, to quit at twelve Red Stars and three or four of every campaign medal..and invest in a nice upper end piece. When I get it framed I'll post it in the frame for you. Hey, I sent you an e-mail. Respects. Robert |

From junior member to seniors...
Some alternative to frames - no glass contact, no pressure, etc.
Sorry for interruption Best regards Mark Last edited by CtahhR; 06-09-2014 at 12:35 PM. |

Guys,
I was wondering what you think of this method of displaying Orders. Here is an example for the Order of Glory. I think they look OK, here the Red Banner. And The Red Star And Banner of Labour. I think they would be good for a Collection of variations and Types.

Wow!!!
Taz,
WOW!!! What a great and beautiful collection of Orders you have! The way you display them is very attractive too! Where do you find that back tissue of the same pattern of the Order's ribbons?! Congratulations! Dolf |

Guys,
I wish they were all my Orders. But these Oversize Ribbons are on offer at E... at the moment. I just liked the idea of presenting Orders in this way and was wondering what you all think. Tal, Might well be, If I decide to buy any I,ll ask. Eddie.

FINALLY...
Thanks to the persistance of a certain forum member, here's a pic of the hangers I use for my frames. I buy them in packs of four at Home Depot for around $2. --Dave |
