Re: Red Army Guards badge; dating the award?

Thanks for the opinions guys. The screwplate and badge do make an odd pair, but the badge does seem authentic. There's indeed the M-letter on the flag's reverse. What's your take on the dating, Desantnik?

I agree with Lapa, 80's-early 90's.

Brass variation of Gvardia were never produced by the mint. They were made by NKPS in Sherbinka, MTX and Pobeda, and, possibly, by some smaller and even some foreign factories.

This one looks like Pobeda manufacture with the star shaped mark. They are very difficult to date based on the available reference, but I would say 70s.

Is this the mark?

Alexei

Alexei,

yeah, that's the mark. Had to dig out my magnifying glass to make sure. :)

OK, so at least we know for sure that it was made by the Pobeda factory in Moscow, and the screwplate does not belong to this badge.

Guards badges dating

Hi!

I would like to have your opinion about dating these guards badges. I don't have the original screwplates. The first one has no mintmark, the second have it on the back of the banner. (I don't know how to increase picture size).

Deducing from the flag design, I'd say it's 1970's or so. At least post-WW2.

Re: Guards badges dating

I'm not sure but my guess would be maybe late 40s or early 50s. It's a nice early one I'm almost positive.
Let's wait for a real expert to opine.

Re: Guards badges dating

Yes, genuine, nice-conditioned early one. Definitely pre-1990:D
