Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals

Everything looks in order, but since this particular medal is one with a large number of extremely good fakes, the final word is probably going to be one of weights and measures. I only know that it is supposed to be exactly 32mm in diameter. What the weight range is on this one is something I would like to know myself.:)

Do you have any kind of suspension at all for this medal or did I guess correctly that you only have the medal itself?

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals

I have the triangular suspension but no connection ring. I can post a picture of it.

I saw one XX medal on the collect russia site: Silver, enamel; 32.2 mm wide; weighs 23.2 g without suspension and connecting link.

More information to the XX medal:

No reflection of the enamel to the UV light.

Great news. The more I look at it, the more I like it. The first X (left "leg") dips just enough over the border like other real ones I've seen. The scratches on the enamel surface look authentic from normal wear. If it is a fake, it's one of the best I've ever seen.:)

I like it, check one more thing, between the sides of XX and enamel, can you see gilding ?

No worry as far as I know, those were made with usual brass connection rings, but never were in a triangular ones

I think he means the 5-sided suspension. If not, then we do need to see a picture of it.

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals

Yes it has some traces of the gilding between the XX.

Yes I mean the 2nd version of the suspension :-)

I hope this info will help to come to a conclusion about that medal. Otherwise I have to go to a photoshop to create a very detailed picture. Please let me know your opinion about that medal.

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals

Based on everything I can see in the pictures, I like it. But with something like this, you are in the same position I am in with my Order of Friendship of Peoples. I'm 99.9 percent positive it is authentic, but until I send it to someone like Alexei for a definitive, final authentication with a very useful piece of paper backing me up should I ever choose to sell it, that's about as far as I can go with this one.

To me, everything looks right. Probably, everything looks right to you too. The only way to remove all doubt is to send it to someone for that piece of paper - someone reliable with a good reputation (and no, I'm not suggesting you send it to me:rolleyes:).

It's either that or just accept that you have a good medal and enjoy it. That's what I'm doing for the time being.:)
