Document

Lauri,

What do you think happened with the picture? It looks like it has been torn out and glued back on. I agree its the same stamp on both the picture and the document, but it does not line up.

Keith,

I am not going to comment on the document, since Lauri is in a better position to do so.

I just wanted to mention that this document depsite the KGB stamps is for a WWII veteran.

4 NKVD id's: Real or not?

Can someone tell me if any of these are real? If not, what should I be looking for?

Also, what is the going rate currently for such ID's?

Jeff,

I don't like any of them at all, mostly because they are brand new. In the USSR, IDs were heavily used, especially in branches like the NKVD. In addition, the photos do not have that "official" look, but feel more like personal pictures that were used to make believe.

All in all, I'd stay as far away from them as I can :thumbsdown

Re: Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents

Keep an eye out for the photos. I've seen them appear on different documents with different organizations (NKVD/SMERSH and MVD/NKGB). Some are the exact same photo used for different years and no uniform change with the different ministry or people's commisariat they are supposed to be a part of.

Nota Bene,

On the KGB ID "for good service" No.355, I've seen the saem photo on an MVD ID from 1964. AND, I believe I saw him on an eBay "NKVD Gramota" ID by a less than reputable sourc who insists that the ones he keep turning out are all signed by Beria.

Thanks for the info, it's good to know. Do you by any chance have any scans to post?
