Related, Vatutin and Nikita Khrushev were close as Khrushev was a member of Vatutin's military council. There are many photos of the two of them together, and Khrushev headed up Vatutin's funeral on his own 50th birthday. Now there are conspiracy theories about Vatutin being murdered in surgery, since his bullet wound was through the hip and originally thought not life threatening.

Quite the contrary. Red Army female tank troopers, while the exception, were more common on the battlefield than you may realize.

I'm surprised Hollywood hasn't jumped on a sexy, sassy, killing machine heroine as a concept for a historical fact-based film.
The "night witches" do it for me most of the time without being glamorised by Hollywood.

Realy? Were they crewmen? OK, I know, women were air crewmen, snipers, scouts, artillerists and even regular soldiers (not to mention female naval infantry squad leader), but tank crew? To me looks like the problems may be similar to those that prevent navy from recruting women to the submarine service.

Yes, they served as tank crew members. Some were highly decorated for their service.
