I first thought this was a typo and the seller probably meant $87.00.
But when you go to eBay - there are actual bids - about 22 of them - for $8758!!!! What makes this auction suspicious - it's a private one. But even if the seller is bidding up the price himself - it just does not make sense, as the final eBay fees will be almost as much as the cost of Friendship order. I don't get this one. Charlet,
I thought you were refering to my "hoarding" them. I wouldn't be surprised is Lenins were offered at $750 in Russian to Foreigners. Dealers of course get them for much less. I can also prove that if you are interested in purchasing one Alexei Quote:

Realistic Prices
Hi,
I recently posted the following list in the 'wanted' section. I've received a few comments to say these prices are unrealistic. They relate to how much I'd be prepared to pay, rather than market value, so this may or may not be the case. I'm in no hurry to obtain anything, so I'm happy to wait. Perhaps people might like to comment on the prices and suggest what they think should be realistic prices. Kind Regards, Shane Cook. ------------------------------ The Wanted List: Titles: ******* $300 - Peoples Physician of the USSR. $300 - Peoples Teacher of the USSR. $400 - Aviator-Cosmonaut of the USSR. $250 - State Prize Medal (loral one) 1st Class with document. $200 - State Prize Medal (loral one) 3rd Class with document. $300 - Stalin Prize Medal 1st Class. $250 - Stalin Prize Medal 2nd Class. $200 - Stalin Prize Medal 3rd Class. $600 - Lenin Prize Medal with document. $400 - State prize medals awarded to other republics. $500 - Meritorious Test Pilot of the USSR. $500 - Meritorious Test Navigator of the USSR. $500 - Meritorious Military Pilot of the USSR. $500 - Meritorious Test Parachutist, of the USSR. $500 - Meritorious Pilot of the USSR. $500 - Meritorious Navigator of the USSR. $250 - Meritorious Inventor of the USSR. $250 - Meritorious Agricultural Worker of the USSR. $250 - Meritorious Agricultural Ameliorator of the USSR. $250 - Meritorious Construction Engineer of the USSR. $250 - Meritorious Technologist of the USSR. $250 - Meritorious Mechanical Engineer of the USSR. $400 - Meritorious Specialist of the Armed Forces of the USSR. $1000 - HSU with large document. Dear Shane,
HSU star w/o any documents is over 1500 alone, set of 3 labor glories is at least double of what you dream of paying for it. Then again, since you're in no hurry, might as well entertain yourself with vegas idea that one day those bargains might materialize... It's like feeling as a millionare, when holding the ticket 5min BEFORE drawing. Best, Alex. |

One danger is that any of these items offfered for sale at these prices stands a big chance of being a fake. I would be very wary of buying anything offered to me at those prices. I would ask why and not accept the fire sale, need an operation, or special deal just for you, etc answers.

IMHO,
The only way you'll see some of these prices is when the market tanks for these awards! I've been collecting these awards for 3 years and I'm only seeing prices climbing... be it slow but still climbing. I bought my FoN 3 years ago for $95 Order of Lennin $300 these were high prices at the time but pieces were plentifull and these were PQ! Rusty.

A good laugh is good for the health
Shane,
nice "I wnat those" list. But the prices looks like a new "Avers" catalogue... HSU Star + BIg gramota for $1000?! Stalin prize (1st class!) for $300?! Let's use the common sense - Very rare awards cost a lot of money. Sad, but it's the reality. I don't want to waste my time to prove my point, but few examples: Pilot/Cosmonaut badge You want one for $400. Give me one for a $1000 and I'll say it's a GRAET deal. How many badges were issued? 250? 300? -------------------------------------------------- $300 - Stalin Prize Medal 1st Class. $250 - Stalin Prize Medal 2nd Class. $200 - Stalin Prize Medal 3rd Class. Now that is somethng. remember that MOST of those were REPLACED by state prize, so the number of "surviving" medals is extrimely low (in most cases, the medals awarded to people who died before the replacement started). __________________________________ No comment, execpt a good are those (partial list): $250 - State Prize Medal (loral one) 1st Class with document $600 - Lenin Prize Medal with document $600 - Personal Courage, issued with documentation and COA. $1000 - Order of Labour Glory set with COA's and documentation. $5 each for documents in good condition for any of the achievement medals (e.g. BAM, Virgin Lands, Donbas Coal etc). _____________ Don't take it as an insult to you. it's not. But your prices are the opposite of the jokes we see in ebay, were a veteran of labor medal could be sold for $50 or a simple beret ($5 worth) for $920. NO ONE, EVEN IN YOUR BEST DREAMS, EVEN FROM THE POOREST EX SOVIET REPUBLICS, WILL SELL THOSE AWARDS IN THOSE PRICES. Tal
