Photographs Of Recipients Of Soviet Awards/Service Personnel.

Here is Evgenij Kas'janov, an Airman. He sent this photograph home to his sister with a poem on 28th January 1941 - 5 months before the war.

The poem reads;

Воспоминание.....
Пусть эти строки
написаны несмелою рукою,
Пусть неуверенность царит,
На миг не складною строфою;
Но пусть напомнят: миг веселья,
задорный шум, азартный спор.
Любви-безвинной наслажденья,
но сколько дней, - прошло с тех пор......??
Хоть жизни часть-готов отдать,
-Как зверь - терзающий мечту -
"Побыть в студенческом кругу",
Хотел и буду я желать.
Жизнь здесь и лучше временами
"Бокалами веселье можешь пить",
Но все "Прекрасное часами" -
- Порой, годами не забыть.

Recollection.....
Let these lines,
Written by a timid hand,
Let uncertainty reign,
For a moment, not folding stanza;
But let it remind: a moment of fun,
Vivacious noise, gambling dispute.
Loves-innocent delights,
but how many days - had passed since ...... ??
Although part-ready to give life,
-Which beast - tearing the dream -
"To stay in the student circle"
I wish and I will wish for.
Life is here and better sometimes,
"glasses of fun you can drink"
But all the "magnificent hours" -
- At times, over the years not forget,

After an extensive search I can only find one possible match. Evgenij Mihailovich Kas'janov, born 1919, Kazalinsk, Alash Autonomy (now Kazakhstan), Senior Sergeant, Radioist/Gunner, 804th Aviation Regiment, 293rd Bombardment Aviation Division - Killed in action 6th January 1943.

It's not every day that you encounter a HSU wearing the Kaganovich Subway Construction Badge. HSU Guards Captain S. N. Suvorov proudly wears his first or second pattern badge.

I'm stumped. At first, I thought it was his officer's hat. Then I thought it is the 3rd weird looking medal under the HSU which I can't identify. Unless you tell me, I will never find closure!

Your first instinct was correct - it is his headgear. He wears the formal or parade uniform version instead of the prescribed regulation service cap.

The "third" or middle decoration looks like the Order of the Red Banner.

Here's Podpolkovnik Globenko Dmitry Vasilyevich photographed in September 1953 with his medal of Sino-Soviet friendship in addition to his Soviet awards. Unfortunately no info on D.V. Globenko on podvignaroda; likely he was part of the Soviet 39 Army.

I think the reason you can't find him is because it is all long service...

18825 was the 44th Guards Self Propelled-Artillery Section.
