Re: Serial numbers of some Soviet awards to Mongolians
Fascinating thread. Thanks!
Just a few data points: Red Star 1780090 Red Star 3700047 Both to Lieutenant-General Damdin Tserenjav See http://www.soviet-awards.com/forum/s...1780090-a.html Red Star 96989 (document only) To Shagdarzhad Batooshrin Not sure it has appeared here? May be on another forum (not to be named) which I no longer visit. This may also be worthy of a cross-reference http://www.soviet-awards.com/forum/s...1780094-a.html |

Ed, is there any way for you to post the Order Certificate with the Order of the Red Star for B. Shagdarjav?
Commander of the Artillery of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Army Major General G. Erendoo was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of USSR from 1945-46. The order serial number is 299597. He was also awarded the Order of October Revolution in March 1971. The serial number of the order is 300. Below is the photo of the uniform of Major General Genden Erendoo (with the complete set of awards) on display at the Mongolian Military Museum. Last edited by CtahhR; 09-01-2014 at 05:27 AM. |

Re: Serial numbers of some Soviet awards to Mongolians
This is awesome. One of the early Order of the Red Star awards to a Mongolian. Congrats. I think this B. Shagdarjav was the Minister of Internal Affairs of the MPR during the WWII period. More so, one of the first 11 generals of MPR and to be precise on of the first two generals of the Mongolian State Security organisation.

Re: Serial numbers of some Soviet awards to Mongolians
The document has some information. Probably you know that. "Lt. Demchigiin Baldan, commander of the cavalry squadron, 14th cavalry regiment, 5th cavalry division". I do not have any details on this person, unfortunately.

Re: Serial numbers of some Soviet awards to Mongolians
Only three Mongolians were awarded the Soviet Commander's level orders ever. The decree of the Presidium of the Soviet Supreme Council of the USSR dated September 8, 1945 read "For the skillful leadership of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Army in the war against Japanese invaders".
1. Marshal of the MPR Khorloo Choibalsan was awarded the Order of Suvorov, 1st Class 2. Lt. General Yumjaa Tsedenbal was awarded the Order of Kutuzov, 1st Class 3. Lt. General Jamyan Lhagvasuren was awarded the Order of Suvorov, 2nd Class. |

Choibalsan's Order of Suvorov, 1st class was serial numbered 403. Unfortunately I do not have the serial number information on Yu. Tsedenbal's Order of Kutuzov, 1st Class.
Below is young Tsedenbal wearing the order. On the podium, making the speech. Last edited by CtahhR; 09-01-2014 at 05:32 AM. |

Lt. General J. Lhagvasuren was awarded the Order of Suvorov, 2nd Class serial numbered 2966. The specimen is kept at the Mongolian Military Museum.
