Hello!
Please have a look at this Defense of Odessa voenkomat type. Do I like it? :) |

Re: Fake "Defense of" Campaign Medals
...probably not.
The seller is also offering this suspect Stalingrad in another one of his many auctions... not a good sign, in my opinion. |

:o
Thank you, drill! Apparently, I was too suspicious against too shiny medals. :) |

Re: Fake "Defense of" Campaign Medals
Hello. This is my new Defense of the Polar Region. It came with a document dated 1945 which looks very convinving (to me :o).
The goldwash is so (suspiciously) shiny that the scans are a little blurry, especially the obverse. Are they sufficient for you to evaluate this medal? Otherwise I can try with an ordinary still camera. Thank you ciao sergio Last edited by rocketscientist; 03-04-2013 at 04:59 PM. |

Re: Fake "Defense of" Campaign Medals
Polar medal looks good. Small chance the ring was resoldered, but at a minimum base medal is fine.

Here are some closeups of the soldering. It seems fresh.
Thank you sergio |

Do these campaign medals look legitimate?
I keep them in shadowboxes and I don't really want to drag them out to get a photo of the reverse. Although the backsides do look legitimate in terms of centered lettering, etc..
Thank you |

Re: Do these campaign medals look legitimate?
From this altitude and only obverses, all look good however #1 Leningrad and #3 Caucasus appear to have replaced suspension rings.
