Re: Medal "For The Development Of The Virgin Lands".
This just in, two medals and documents for the Development of the Virgin Lands ostensibly awarded to the same person, once in 1962 and again in 1964, one a ring variation, the other the more common, and I think, older variation.
- Document for the Medal and Medal for the Development of the Virgin Lands issued to Grigoriy Petrovich Tsibulnikov on October 6th, 1962 by the Chairman of Amangeldinsk, Regional Executive Committee, Isaev, Kostanai Region, North Kazakhstan SSR, Serial #B460662. - Document for the Medal and Medal for the Development of the Virgin Lands issued to Grigoriy Petrovich Tsibulnikov on August 24th, 1966 by Secretary of Uralsk Regional Executive Committee, Uralsk, West Kazakhstan Province, Kazakhstan, Serial #B012170. Re: Medal "For The Development Of The Virgin Lands".
It would be interesting to know what position this person held as they were awarded this "campaign" Medal twice. Probably some sort of management setting up the foundations for the reclamations in at least two separate projects.
Very nice to see a double award indeed.

Re: Medal "For The Development Of The Virgin Lands".
That's what I thought, possibly involved in two reclamation projects, and, as you suggest, in a significant managerial position in two geographically separate districts; Kazakhstan is a big place. . .

Re: Medal "For The Development Of The Virgin Lands".
Exactly. If someone was involved in the establishing of a project there would be more chance of them moving from site to site. A day-to-day worker or director would be needed on the site to maintain production, harvesting, etc. unless the reclaimed land failed and the workers were forced to move to another project. If this was the case though, I don't see someone getting awarded for it in such short succession.

Re: Medal "For The Development Of The Virgin Lands".
- Document for the Medal for the Development of the Virgin Lands issued to Elena Savelichna Scherbina awarded October 30th, 1957, by the Vice-Chairman of Kegensk Regional Executive Committee (Alma-Aty Region, Kazakhstan SSR), Serial #A104078.
- Document for the Medal for the Development of the Virgin Lands issued to Klavdiya Sidorovna Reznik awarded May 8th, 1965, by the Chairman of Executive Committee, Schuchino (Kokshetau Region, Kazakhstan SSR) Regional Council, Serial #B156927. Note how on the latter example the medal was "pinned" to the inside cover of the booklet and the indentations on the both pages made by the ring. - Document for the Medal for the Development of the Virgin Lands issued to Vasiliy Afanasievich Shamov awarded May 15th, 1967, by the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Altai District Council, Russia, Serial #A617633. Re: Medal "For The Development Of The Virgin Lands".
Hi guys I would like to introduce my Medal for the development of virgin lands , with a bit of history. Established 26 October 1956 was assigned to the farmers and workers of state-owned companies, for merits in the development of virgin and fallow lands in Kazakhstan, Siberia, the Urals , in the Volga basin and in the North Caucasus , after a minimum of two years of work. The medal is made of brass, the obverse depicts the image of a combine C-4 in a field with a grain silo in the background, down the inscription in relief on three lines " FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF VIRGIN LANDS "
( Russian : " За освоение целинных земель "). On the back along the circumference of the left ears of corn on the cob right ,under a sickle and a hammer with sunbeams. There are two variations of the medal, the first has the eyelet plate , the second has rounded eyelet , ( in my humble point of view, the variant 1 is glossy , while the second variant is opaque ) and there are two variants of the document of assignment, inside, has the letter A and the second letter Б before serial. Curiosity, one of the distinguished recipients of the medal was Yuri Gagarin . I show you my medal Var 1 with doc Var 1 Assigned to: Ничиков.........Nichikov Владимир.........Vladimir Александрович.........Aleksandrovich Conferred by: Секретарь.........Secretary of the Oблисполкома.........Executive Committee Е. Серикбаев.........E. Serikbaev
