For a Nevsky...?
I think a bunch of us can give you some pointers on specific phrases or words you need help on if you let us know where you are getting hung up - Russian case endings can really change what you read, and the non-typed text is a bear. Otherwise, I'd say that for something as pricey and significant as a Nevsky, you might be better served tracking down one of those dudes who does translation as a service. You pretty much get what you pay for.
I think translation goes for around $25 or $30 a pop? I can PM you someone - not me, I'm an amateur! I just dabble pro-bono when asked - who can do justice to such an award, and others here can give you names also. ...Brian |

Cit Document - authentic?
I doubt anyone forges this kind of papers, but it seems strange, that almost all signatures on this doc. are made in same red pencil.
Also shouldnt it be made on a special blank? Is it authentic? |

It looks much like some of the writing on this citation. Others with lots of experience have looked at this and don't find it odd, so it appears such 'red' writing is on authentic documents.
It looks rather like crayon to me. :) |

OK, it is a crayon. I don't think it's the crayon that is strange, but the fact, that all the officers, from colonel to marshal used the same crayon, altough they didn't sign it at the same day.
But maybe I am just paranoid.... |

It is something akin to a grease pencil/crayon. The officers were in primitive, field conditions using government issued colored pencils since ball point pens hadn't been invented yet and pens with ink wells were most unconvenient to carry around and difficult to resupply with ink.
