Re: Medal "For The Defence Of Kiev".
Hey Mark,
we all know that there is only one type of Kiev medals, but I read that there are different variations. Do you have any info about that? |

Re: Medal "For The Defence Of Kiev".
Travel-North,
There is one, official type for the Kiev medal. However, some time after the fall of the Soviet Union, some Kiev medals appeared with a different reverse, namely, that of the Capture of Vienna medal. It is thought that these were specifically minted for the collector market at the Mint, probably sometime about 1993. Marc |

Re: Medal "For The Defence Of Kiev".
Mark,
I read on a Russian forum that there is the main variation, the Kievs made in 1960s, and then the late voenkomat variation, which was made in the 1980s. They look very similar, only the ring and some micro differences. |

Re: Medal "For The Defence Of Kiev".
This one was awarded by the Lenin Region Military Commissariat of Kiev. A Lieutenant-Colonel Podpisnov has put his "podpis" on it.
