Re: Badge question
Thanks. That confirms my guess.
I wonder if he ever got it? He isn't wearing it in the last photo of him (alive - ca. 1941). |

Re: Badge question
Hi,
The award of this badge to a Kombrig is not common. You may be wearing it only on its current service dress...... Sometimes it's a badge that you see on most photos kittel M43 or after war Regards. Philippe |

Re: Badge question
Neat badge though, It's like an Order of glory, mixed with a Red star, mushed up with an old "shock worker" badge.

I noticed I've got a badge like this one too. No 23748. Until what year did they made these and what would the year be this one was handed out?

Re: Badge question
USSR,
As far as I know, this badge was officially created at the end of 1939, and the first awards were made in 1940. About 149,000 such badges were struck at LMD. Although I do not have an exact date for when it stopped to be used, I believe that it might have been awarded until the new shield-shaped series was created at the end of the 1950's (in 1957 if I remember correctly). Re: Badge question
There may be a Prikaz or Ukaz officially disestablishing this award.

I could go along with that, but then this raises a couple of new questions: 1. The highest SN I have seen is somewhere in the 52,xxx range. Since badge 25,695 was awarded on 11/17/1944, it is highly unlikely that another 25,000 badges would be awarded during the few months of the war, isn't it? 2. What happened to the (roughly counting :D) remaining 100,000 pieces? Marc |

Re: Badge question
Marc, you are aware that award s/n's, especially of badges with more distributed awarding authorities than orders and medals don't correspond to chronologically sequential dates. Likewise, what happened to all the 1939 Soviet-Finnish War badges? I'm sure more were made than the one I've held and the only 2-3 appearing in publications.
