Hello,
thanks for discussing the Anniversary Medals in this thread. I never understood before who the recipients were. You explained the award procedure for the military version of these medals. But who received the other two types, the type for workers and the one for foreigners?

Dietrich,
The civilian variation of the anniversary medals was given to the original recipients of the Valiant labor in WWII Medal. As for the foreigners variations it is still a mistery to me, for some reason I've always thought of it as a "courtesy" award. Alexei |

I wish we could find out more about these "foreign awards". I just picked up a 40th Anniversary of the GPW medal with case and document issued to a Yugoslav general. Unfortunately the document just has his name and not his rank. I know that from other (Yugo) awards of his. It is, of course, just the standard "uchastnik voina" medal and document although the doc does have the small Supreme Soviet Preasidium stamp.

TODAY I got a little group of a veteran who passed away recently (I got it from his daughter). He had those medals: VICTORY OVER JAPAN, and the jubilee medals of WW2 and the Soviet army. Also, he got the 50 years of victory badge from Ukraine and Belaruss.
