Strange Uniform

The reference materials that I have on Soviet uniforms cover the Revolution to WW II, and then the Cold War uniforms from the period of the Zhukov style dress uniform (late 1950's) through the end of the Soviet Union. These books include all of the Soviet military uniform regulations from 1957 onward.

The fact that I did not recognize this uniform illustrates a gap in my knowledge.:dissapoint
Does anyone know of references that encompass the period from 1945 to 1957, or whether anyone sells the uniform regulations for that period on DVD?

You need these two books. The one on the left is inclusive revolution to federation for main branches of service. I've only seen it in russian. One on right is english translated with nice tables and diagrams but does not include navy.
By the way, if you need a hat for that parade tunic....:whistler

Regarding reference books I can recommend you "Soviet uniforms and militaria" by Bekesi and Török. It gives a nice brief view on all epochs.
For sure it does not contain every variant, but as an addition it is pretty good.
