Yes, the Soviet influence was obvious even after 1956, the revolution, though in 1957 the Army decided to change completely the prior, 1951 pattern uniforms (which were up to 99% like the Soviet). The first un-Soviet style uniform was issued in 1993, and the old uniforms could be used till the 31th of December 2006!

Jeffrey,

The "Bocskai caps" are an old style of Hungarian cap dating from the Austro-Hungarian Empire days. They did exist in the HUPR but in field uniform models only. This style was also worn by Firemen etc.
