In my view, it is inaccurate to state the Order of Glory 1st Class is "widely copied" let alone "extremely difficult to detect." Within the past year a well-known NYC-area dealer opined that if he were to have a documented Full Cavalier set for sale his asking price would be in the range of $15,000.00. Check out the following link for more on the topic of Full Cavalier set pricing: http://www.soviet-awards.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=3547 Regards, slava1stclass Last edited by slava1stclass; 09-05-2006 at 12:24 PM. |

Sounds like you either have a set of these awards, or are being offered a set - possibly undocumented. There is a book on the topic which is a small paperback that normally runs about $15 or so when a copy is found. It lists all the 1st Class recipients, with the numbers of their awards, both 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class. I've got one, but it is currently in storage (and will be for the next month) and I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head! Doing a search here on the forum will bring it up quickly without doubt. Good luck. Dave |

Order of Glory 3s
May be a dumb question....
Is it possible for a soldier to be awarded Glory 3 more than once? ANZAC

Technically no. Realistically, yes!
There was a thread a while back that showed a group of a guy that had 2 Glory 3's and a Glory 1! Rusty.

I've looked through the Glory archives and there are a few instances where the recipient had the 1,2,3, and another 3 on top of the run.

I have to admit that I didn't realise 2600 people received all 3 orders.I was under the impression that there were only a few hundred but I stand corrected.
Also I am sure a member of this forum mentioned that forgeries of the first class are now so good that an expert would have to examine an example under a microscope to determine if it was original. I asked if the numbers of the orders were documented because I have seen a set for sale. The vendor is not asking anything like $15,000 but even if they cost half that amount it is still a lot of cash if the 1st class turns out to be a copy. If I knew all 3 orders had been awarded to the same person it would indicate that they were an original group and worth buying. Anyway thanks for the info and if anyone can supply the name of the book mentioned above I would appreciate it. Cheers Keith |

Keith,
The name of the book is : "Cavaliers of Three Classes of the Order of Glory" from the Library of Journal 'Order Booklet' series, published in 2005 in Moscow. You can get it for something like $25.- Here are some scans of the cover, first page and part of another page...

Thanks Laurent.
As for the price of a set of 3 I have seen another group for just under $8,000. Sadly beyond my financial reach at the moment. Cheers Keith |

Unique location for serial number Order o Glory 3rd
On this particular O of Glory 3rd cl, the original serial number was rubbed off and a new one hand engraged on the lower right star arm.
