A sad state for OGPW
I found this one on the e-pay and almost made me cry. It looks so sad. Anybody have the gold sunburst that somebody obviously sold? The bidding is only at $250 now...

Re: A sad state for OGPW
You got me brother. I just know who's selling it. Frankly, I wouldn't even sell this partial order - it seems nearly sacrilegious. It already sold and I forgot to "watch" it to see what the final price was. But who in the world would have just the starburst? The phrasing of the selling info was even done carefully. Something like: "The star of the Order of the Great Patriotic War, First class" if I remember correctly. But everybody knows (well, most people) that the gold was taken off and sold. Other than that logical assumption, how can he tell what class it is/was? I know the guy who sold it personally and he has given me a few good deals on hard to find orders, but you have to watch every seller on that site carefully and with a healthy amount of skepticism because as it has been said in many places on this forum, it is all about the money for nearly all the sellers on ePay. :dissapoint

MZPP OPW2?
Does this look like a 'Platinapribor' OPW to you?
And, are these things as rare as I'm thinking they are or am I way off base?

Re: MZPP OPW2?
Yes, this is an MZPP OPW2. They are rather scarce (only 39,470 were produced of them).

Re: MZPP OPW2?
Thanks mate!
Yeah, I was at that site when I noticed the specific mint and production run (20k±) (Then I noticed the other production run as well.) And when did non-85 issue OPW2s jump the $100 barrier, was I asleep?

Re: MZPP OPW2?
I also noticed this 'smooshed' part of the sickle. What do ya make of that? There's are a few at SSB but not quite as pronounced.

OPW Type 2 V1.3.1
Hi,
Here's the first OPW of the year. Quite low serial number "69965". I got some question though... First; when was this awarded? I've failed to find a S/N data base for OPW. Why is a small "8" stamped on this medal? (on the riftle butt stock). What's the value of this one? I'm still stuck in The Old days when you could get a red banner for $60... It has the "usual" wear on the enamel tips, otherwise it's in good condition. Happy hunting 2010! |

Re: OPW Type 2 V1.3.1
Hello,
s/n "69965" is most likely awarded at the end of 1943 / beginning to 1944. On some awards you can observe letters or numerics. In my oppinion it is not clear for what these marks stand for. Maybe a master mark, the first piece of a new series ..... regards Andreas |
