Thats what the soviet state symbol looks like... The Sovier UN patch has the soviet gerb and USSR in latin latters below it. Now, I have another question... Were naval aviation/regular navy troops allowed to wear the naval infantry uniform if the situation warranted it?

ah bloody hell i knew that. just skimmed it and i thought that woudl be a interesting patch for a naval marine to be wearing. :-)

According to my translation of the '89 regulations, there are two versions of the "Naval Infantry" black uniforms. One made of wool and one made of cotton. Apparently the cotton was for non Naval infantry troops. Can anyone confirm?

sounds more like two versions of the same uniform, one for summer and one for winter.
