McDo medal
For sale on the web :
"Russian McDonald’s Hamburger Restaurant “Medal” Approximately 2in x 2in, thin, light weight, gilt aluminum, red and blue enameled medal suspended from a red enameled pin back suspension device, bearing the Russian word “Mockba” (Moscow). Front depicts McDonalds “Golden Arches,” (in red enamel), when closely looked it appears to be a clown face. Tiny red star and hammer & sickle on lower front. Overall very Soviet looking. Produced in Russia, in the early 1990’s when McDonald’s was getting a foothold there. Maker marked on backside. Front has very light scratches from handling. A very unusual Russian souvenir. Excellent. $24.00" Bon appétit ! Ch. |

Most Reprehensible Thus Far...
It's not really funny, but it is on eBay, and is just sad...
I sold a nice husband and wife award group not too long ago. It was small, but the awards were there. What was also nice was that a few of the jubilee medals were there, a picture of the happy couple, and the husband's Communist Party ID book. What's sick is that the seller split off the jubilee medals and their documents (as well as his Victory Over Germany medal with doc) and his Communist Party ID, and is selling that alone there on eBay! Maybe I'm nuts, but I HATE to see a group get split up like that. I've offered to repurchase the group from the guy, just so he keeps it all together, but haven't heard from him yet. I know that when someone purchases a group they can do whatever they please with it, but considering that the group has already been so far and is still together, it just doesn't make sense to split it up. I'm sure the next guy who owns the group would probably really like to have the jubilee medals with the orders. Oh well, just venting- thanks for listening! --Dave |

As a resolution to my above story...
The seller of the group on eBay and I corresponded, and he explained to me why he was doing what he was doing- he only collects orders and the group wasn't complete to begin with. That was understandable, but we had a good discussion and he agreed to keep everything together, more out of a favor to me than anything else. I appreciate him doing that, and respect him for that. Until next time... --Dave |
