Pre-Soviet "Untergang" books

Znaki Voinskoi Doblesti by A. S. Domank, printed in Moscow in 1990 by the publishing house of the DOSAAF organization

Ordeni i Medali CCCP by Koleshnikov and Roshkov, printed in Moscow by Voennoe Isdatelstvo ("Military Publisher") in 1983. Voennoe Isdatelstvo published in 1989 the series of large official uniform & insignia posters printed and used throughout the USSR to familiarize both the civilian and military population with the ranks & uniforms of the Soviet armed forces; my set is rolled up and stored in the attic right now, but I do not recall that any one of the eight or nine wall charts illustrated a gold colored sub badge...

Gosudarstvenni Nagradi CCCP, no author name given, printed in Moscow by Isvestia in 1987

Ordena i Medali CCCP, no author name given, printed in Moscow by Planeta in 1982

Znacki Otlichia Pravoosraniteli Organov CCCP by Kusenko and Rudenko, printed in 1991 in (I think) Kiev

Nagradi Medali Rossii by Peters in Moscow in 1989, which I will admit is devoted to the imperial era and may, probably, be a communist era bootleg of an American book...

Jim,

Thank you. I hope this can help all the fellow members interested in this subject.

You say these are "Pre-Soviet" books. You mean before 1917? Or you meant Soviet period instead, therefore before 1991? That would match the dates of printing you mention for each book.

Thanks,

Dolf

My initial wording in that post was an oblique reference to Untergang, the German word for "downfall" and the title of the recent movie detailing the collapse of the Third Reich - I simply meant to indicate that the titles that I was listing were written and or published before the Soviet Union disintegrated...

I just went through both volumes of the book Badges and Medals of the Russia Fleet 1945-2004 and couldn't find anything.

Laurent,

I looked through my book with only submarine badges. But I could not find it either. So I think it is a fantasy piece.

regards
Andreas

I was just doing a little searching and ran across this title - "Submarine Badges and Insignia of the World."
Here is a link to its page on Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/076...books&v=glance

I've never read or utilized this text, I just thought it was interesting to note that the same badge in question that started this thread is pictured on the front cover of the book. I don't know the basis of their research, but they must have thought it genuine enough to include it in the text.

Just wanted to pass on what I found. . . :)
