Surely no one can argue with the statement that high ranking Soviet parade uniforms were the most awesomw any country has ever possesed and will take a lot to be beaten.
Another question I have is what was the reasoning behind changing the wearing of medals underneath the lapel to being worn on the breast? Surely this was uniqiuely Soviet and a tradition I think they should have stuck with rather than adopting the western traditon. Also from a practical point of view you could get more medals on the uniform when worn in this way! Any thoughts??? |

Tale out your books, count the awards and use the calculator....
BTW, Ustinov had 11 orders of Lenin - that's more than 300 Grams of gold.... Tal

The message is obvious - The CCCP consider the order of labor glory as a continuation of the order of glory - in the labor front.
Nice one! Also can serve as a propaganda for us - to encourage young chuldren to collect Soviet awards... Tal

Bazanov,
The first one is a propaganda poster about the October Revolution, piece, etc.; I have no idea what the second one is, it's probably from one of the Baltic States and is not in Russian, could be an election poster; the third one is from the serie of information posters abut WWII heroes, in this case a lady, who was a full Cavalier of the Order of Glory. Bazanov,
The second is an election poster for Arnold Veimer, for election to Supreme Soviet of USSR, from Rakvere, Estonia. He was Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars 28 Sep 1944 - 25 Mar 1946 Arnold Veimer (b. 1903 - d. 1977) and Chairmen of the Council of Ministers 25 Mar 1946 - 29 Mar 1951 Arnold Veimer He seems to be one of the primary Estonians that helped the Soviets take over, and is considered a traitor by Estonians today, but interestingly enough, there is still an Estonian government marine research ship named after him. How to Display Soviet posters
I picked these up in 2000 from the archives of the State Political Science Museum in Moscow; they were so low on funds that they were actually selling some of the reserve collection. I picked up two orignal civil war posters in amazing condition. I got them home without damage and had them framed by an archaivist (sp?).
