Hi William,
I know I really must update that list, there have been quite some changes lately, but I've been busy, busy, busy :( Moreover, I'm afraid I will have to dissapoint you, but a fellow collector send me a picture of the Hero of Labour gold medal n° 13. Which is sofar the lowest SN observed. Still I would love to see pictures of yours, as for the moment I can only dream of owning a HL. Best regards Jan |

UPDATE IN GREEN
This is probably the last update I will put on the forum, because of the enormous amount of work, and the rather small differences in the serial numbers. Those interested in further updates PM me and I will send you updated lists (XL sheet) each time I have one Jan |

Jan,
We appreciate the hard work you're putting into this. Is it possible for you to do updates on less frequent time table? It would be greatly appreciated to have the latest info. Thanks! Rusty.

Jan,
A BIG thank you! ;) GREAT job! Btw, if it doesn't exist delete that HLM T4... And add some characteristics previously listed for T4 on the T3... Just my 2 cents... Thank you! Dolf |

Interesting reading being a keen Mongolian collector particularly remarks about pricing. When you consider the quality of Mongolian medals/orders and low numbers issued they are a good deal.So far I have been lucky and not bought any dodgy ones.Unfortunately I can't say the same about buying Soviet medals/orders.Just hope the Suche Bator i've ordered doesn't turn out to be the first dodgy Mongolian Order.

herdsman badge serial number
Hi Vatjan,
You've done an excellent job making and updating this list...I understand it's a lot of work. FYI, here's a new highest serial for Herdsman badge T3 V1 Uigur Mirror Reverse: 4100! I was outbid for the item on E, but I'll still post the pics of the seller if that's OK.

Award names in Mongolian
To experts in Mongolian awards:
I was sorting through some Mongolian award documents and had really difficult time of figuring out the names of the awards as they are written in order booklets. I suggest we put together a list matching English names to Mongolian equivalents, ie: "Military Merit Medal" -> "____ _____ Odon" This would really help with figuring out the correct name of the award. Thanks, William |

William,
Despite the fact that indeed different publications about Mongolian awards give slight different names to each award (in English), I suppose that the correct translation of the Mongolian awards in English is the one used by Dr. Battushig on his book "Mongolian Orders, Medals & Badges". Even thought I suppose that there might be different ways to translate those names, which would perhaps explain the minor differences between different author's translations, for example Herfurth and Dr. Battushig. Anyway, so as far as the English name of the awrds is concerned I guess all we have to do (at least those among us who have that book) is to make a list with the names in English. As for the Mongolian name of each award... I just can't help with that! :( What do you suggest for listing the original names of the awards? List it in Mongol? Or have the Mongol words written in western letters? I'm not sure I understood your example  Jan, would you be able to help with this? Dolf |

While checking the very few Mongolian Docs I have, I believe that in fact these are writen in Cyrilic, am I right?
Posting this pic just as an example of how these Docs look like. Well, on this display there is also one Soviet Doc for an Order of Lenin and the mini size Mongolian Constitution in Spanish, obviously these don't count :) but the four that are open are typical Mongolian Docs for the awards next to them. (no Doc for the small Badge for 40 Years of the October Revolution on the bottom right corner) Dolf |

Ok, here's a start, I don't have cyrillic fonts on my PC, so please look at the pic for the mongolian writing style: Names: cfr Battushig
1) Sukhbaataryn odon = Sukhbaatar Order 2) Baildaani gav'yaany ulaan tugiin odon = Order of the red banner of combat valour (aka Order of the red combat banner) 3) Khodolmoriin gav'yaany ulaan tugiin odon = Order of the red banner of labour valour 4) Baildaani gav'yaany odon = Combat Valour order (aka Military merit order / aka order for meritorious service in battle) 5) Algan gadas Odon = Order of the Polar Star 6) Baildaani medal = Honorary medal of combat (aka combat service merit medal / aka military merit medal / aka medal for meritorious service in battle) 7) Khodolmoriin medal = Honorary medal of labour Please correct me if I made any transliteration mistakes, or other plain mistakes.
