Re: Defense of Stalingrad medal certificate

It's good. If you pay close attention, you'll notice an 812 RR stamp, but a 201 Gds RR notation, that's because the 812 was reflagged into the 201. Nice historical moment captured in the paperwork.

Thank you Desantnik for your comment. I wouldn't have noticed that detail without your help. I am glad it is an original award.

Better scan of the Stalingrad award after having received it. The sheet was ripped in two pieces which have been put together with a sticky strip of paper on the back.
In addition, I notice the paper is quite thick and rigid. What I found suspicious is that there is no markings left on the paper by the typewritten characters near the stamp. The surface looks flat and smooth on both sides of the document. I tried to make good scans to help your assessment.
Thank you

ciao
sergio

There is nothing wrong with the authenticity of this document.

Stalingrad

Hello,

what could be the reason of the damage to the Stalingrad medal.
The damage must be caused by something with very high energie. The damage on the reverse left signs on avers.
A bullet perhaps? or a shiver of an artillery shell?

best regards and thanks
Andreas

Re: Battle damaged medal?

It is one's personal choice, however, as for myself, all damaged awards to me are battleworn-whether on the battlefield or dropped in the kitchen. How do you know that a kid didn't damage it? For me, an award is an award despite the condition and all are special.:thumbsup

Re: Battle damaged medal?

From those images I'd lean more towards a die error at the mint. Andreas, can you post images of the full medal front and back please when you get the time?

Re: Old Stalingrad medal.

The ribbon seems to be good, with the red center line accentuated with pencil stripes!
