In 1945 size of cuff’s spools was changed from 35 x 35 mm to 35 x 55 mm and backing of the same color as collar tabs appeared and under no circumstances dark blue state security tabs and spools would appear on troop’s double breasted tunics.

Thank you Vadim. Was the first picture (in colour) taken in Livadia during the conference? I have seen news pictures of the Yalta conference where a state security commissar wears the elusive open kitel (http://soviet-awards.com/forum/sovie...ommissars.html).
