Dolf,

What a superb piece! :)

I believe they were not awarded consecutively, so you'll have to wait for the research.

Re: Order of Alexander Nevsky

Since it's very slow here this weekend here's mine again. It's been discussed before but every year or so I start to wonder about it.

I bought it here in Florida about 5 years ago for $500 (I think) which was a pretty good price back then.

It's what happened to the serial number that makes me wonder. I think the number's 28074.

What do you guys think is the story?

Re: Order of Alexander Nevsky

Eric,

Most Orders of Nevsky in the 27~28K range have signs of mint-changed SNs. I have not heard of a specific reason for that though.

Re: Red Banner ORB T2V2

I like how the black absorbs any of the stray light. Your eyes are on the subject matter and not wandering around in the background. Nice..you might try holding up a piece of translucent paper, such as tracing paper, above the award to diffuse the light a little.

Re: Order of Alexander Nevsky

Really? That is most interesting.
I always assumed the vet tried scratching it off to hide his identity. But then I thought that any vet of the GPW, not to mention one who won a Nevsky could certainly scratch the number off completely, not the half-arsed job seen here.
I certainly love the hear some theories aboot this. :)
