Re: Cockade info
Nice bullion embroidery. All the ones I've seen have cheaper stamped metal wreaths. Suggests either a higher ranked officer or someone who wishes they were.

Re: Cockade info
I think it is from in between 1970 till 1985.
i base this on the knowledge that the badge would be rather big to be pre 1970 (bigger than a general of army badge). and the backing color is the color in use during that period. in 1985 there was a very similar cap badge introduced made out of metal. This could very well be the badge in use during that period. On the under the red star web page , exactly this time frame misses. because i already checked this web page ,, but the cap i looked for wasn't on it. Can any one confirm my toughts about this badge ? |

Re: Cockade info
Ser-g,
I was going through my archives again today and found this photo of a Railroad Director (General)...don't remember much more about it ( I had it back in 1995 or so) but I am sure the cockade is the same. DougD |

Re: Cockade info
Indeed it is exactly the same cockade.
weird it has no wing on the crown, but my cap didn't have that either (altough there is a big mark that there must have been a railway wing of normal type). do you remember the inside of the cap ? was is a generals equivalent? My cap has normal officers inside. Last edited by Ser-g; 01-28-2009 at 08:47 AM. |

Re: Cockade info
Hi Ser-g,
Sorry, it went through my hands more than a decade ago. I know where it is, but the owner passed away and his huge postwar collection is locked in his basement. Not sure what will ever happen to it all. DougD |
