Re: Kim Jong Il has died
The Korean Friendship Association has finally released a set of statements on the death of Kim Jong-Il and here is a line from it just so everyone who hasn't seen it gets an idea of the overall feel of it.
"THE GREAT LEADER COMRADE KIM JONG IL IS IMMORTAL!"

Re: Kim Jong Il has died
I was watching DPRK state TV today and it was showing all the mourners flailing around the glass sarcophagus and out of the hundreds of people passing by it seems that only about 8 had ranks lower than colonel (almost everyone was a colonel) and there were only 2 naval personnel (with colonel equivalent ranks). Is the KPA primarily made up of colonels? I also did not see any civilians.
It's just a shame that the whole event is a ribbon bar job or there would be some real Christmastime decorations on show. The minimum requirement for entry seems to be 4 rows of ribbons.

Re: Kim Jong Il has died
Definitely some interesting nuggets in there for sure. I found it interesting that the military around the sarcophagus saluted The Great Successor but he shook each man's hand instead. Have there been any photos of him in military uniform yet? I have been a little obsessed with any pieces of info coming from that region over the last week.

Re: Kim Jong Il has died
I think every forum member here worth their salt has had at least one of their eyes looking at the Korean situation since the recent news. It really is unknown territory.
I continue to be bombarded with offers.... things are really starting to worm their way out of the woodwork.

Re: Kim Jong Il has died
When the deals are good enough to share they will certainly be shared. I am still manipulating until I get the prices "right". I don't need too much to complete my full set but as for variations I have no idea.
This scenario is working in 2 ways... either the Chinese are trying to "burn off" the giant stockpiles I was talking about before or items are flying out of Korea at such a rate now that they don't have space to keep everything. Because the DPRK is big in the news too recently people have become more award of it and inclined to purchase DPRK awards. Unfortunately these folks haven't been putting the study in and are most likely either getting ripped off or ripping themselves off something which may be ever so slightly retarding the heavy decline in prices that will be coming. Anyone who has been buying up commonplace DPRK items to cash in later has been making a big mistake.

Re: Kim Jong Il has died
All I really know about this anachronism of a third world country is "Ding-Dong, the Wicked Witch..."
It reminds me a little, so far, of what happened after Stalin was dead. The required ceremonies and practices were observed, but in the backs of people's minds were :B):veggiedance:whistler:wink Phillip
