Thanks Doug!!! :D:D:D The uniform just became even better for display. I just have to buy another mannequin.

A Russian friend of mine, here in Dallas, brought me these Medical service Officer's shoulderboards.

They are ready to fly ;) worth to note, the first one is a parade uniform as well however without awards. Notice the good size body part, but short arms. Chubby fellow!

Nice

I have the older brothers of the ones on the left on my M43 parade. What happened to the H&S on the buttons on those? They appear to be missing

Doc,

I don't think that these boards are Soviet issue. What were you told?

boards

Marc,

Instead of simply saying that you don' t think the boards are Soviet, which is not very specific or helpful, please state why and what you think they might be. JeffM did bring up concerns about the buttons, which is a specific point rather than a generalization.

Doc,

Though i am not that into late-era Soviet boards, they look Soviet or Russian to me.

Thank You,

Thanks Doug!!! I am pretty sure that I've seen both of these in "Stalins War...". The buttons did concern me a bit.

:thumbsup:thumbsup Doc

Doug,

Sometimes, you just see things that, for whatever reason, you feel are not right, but can't really tell why. Maybe someone more infallible than I am does not experience that type of feeling; I happen to be a mere mortal, and unless I am 100% certain of what I say, I tend to put things in "diplomatic" terms. Maybe the Narkoms and other upper powers have outlawed doing that, but I don't remember being told so.

From what I see, the Major boards do not have piping, which is very un-soviet in my book. I do not recognize the surface pattern and the material, and finally 6-sided, buttoned parade boards were changed to 4-sided sewed on boards way back in the 1950's.
The gray Lieutenant's boards look like Milicia boards. Here again, I don't recognize the pattern and the material, and their shape does not correspond to what they are presented as.
I am not getting into buttons, as these can be changed simply on a whim.
I'd tend to think that they are post soviet, and most likely from some former Union republic (eg Ukraine, Belarus...), and may (or may not) be related to the medical field at all.
