I stand corrected. I'm used to the idea of Generals in the NKVD, but then Army Generals holding general-level ranks (not necessarily actual Major Generals or anything) in the KGB. Thus, in their pictures, they're wearing their Army Generals uniforms--not a rarity.

Quite a find to own that uniform, nice one! Is the pipping on it royal blue?

No, it was piped in red, infantry red. Still to see is an authentic KGB general uniform piped in blue, indeed.

Patrik,

As far as I know, from regulations and from talking with the curator of the Secret Police Museum here in StP, royal blue piping was used up to and including the rank of Polkovnik. Once reaching General's level, piping was standard red. As such, royal blue piped KGB general's uniforms are an incongruity.

Add to the fact about the uncertainty about the accompanying cap--would it just be an Army Generals cap, or something different?

Re: Womens Rank in WWII

Synthesis,

There is no uncertainty here: regular red piping with red band.

Re: Womens Rank in WWII

But I have seen general parade, parade/walking-out and service caps with blue piping.
Would that be blue piping in a red piping uniform?

Re: Womens Rank in WWII

Esteban,

Please post pictures of those; I have not seen them and the curator of the Secret Police Museum in StP has not either.

Re: Womens Rank in WWII

I'd say they are all post-soviet productions from Ukraine. As stated earlier in the thread, there is no references, evidences or other information that would give that general rank personell wore this kind of royal blue uniform combinations.

I have seen a fully medaled parade uniform of a KGB general, they even gave me a name; but again, the set was hanging on the wall rather than being worn in a photo.
