Re: Lenin bust with text
Hi Stah,
I think it is the name of the sculptor - Sk. (sculptor?) GEVORKYAN who may have been Armenian. Probably made in the 1960s. A quick Google showed there are some other sculptures from the same person for sale e.g. Eb*y item 300378111862. Simon |

Re: Lenin bust with text
I had a bust signed by Gevorkian, and I am pretty sure that the letters were Sg. - so it may be from the name.
I was told that it was from 1970's but who can be sure? |

Interesting! It's always nice to know the background of your collectibles.
I did a bit of Googling around, and found that Gevorkian was indeed a prominent Armenian artist. I didn't find an article all about him, but here's one of his daughter: Kumro (artist) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. There's a phrase or two about him in it too. |

If that's indeed Gevork Gevorkian, he is pretty famous.

Re: Lenin bust with text
Many of these sorts of statuary were made in limited editions, usually with a number on them, and made of bronze or other more expensive materials.
Later they were often made in much greater numbers (can be 100s to 1,000s) using less expensive materials, usually not bearing an edition number. There are certainly a few examples of this bust available on Eb*y. Are these modern copies i.e. fakes, or cheaper versions from the 60s-80s? None of these busts for sale are the limited edition versions which would be very expensive when made by a sculptor like Gevorkyan. Simon |

Re: Soviet Busts.
Some mentioned Soviet busts that are fake ones. Indeed this may exist for several reasons: money comes first, but nostalgia or renactment comes too…
What do you think of this one, and can you locate this one of Lenin? Ch. |

Re: Soviet Busts.
From the flag and writing, I would say Latvia.
