tip
i just wanted to give you a little display tip. Drill two holes beside eachother and take a piece of wire under the needle on the medal and through the holes. turn them around eachother on the back of your display and you will get rid of the needles who will eventualy give presuremarks on the medalribbons. Screwbacks is of cause just a hole and the pate on the back of the display.
Just a tip. best

Those T-pins might do the same thing....
push them in first and then drape the suspension pin over them. That way they'd be invisible. Where do ya get those pins anyways???

Dolf, When I collected medals I did not like the background for my cases so I visited a fabric store and found some really nice foam padded material. I got a bigger sheet and cut it down to display size pieces. It was pretty cost-effective and looked nice when done. That might be something you want to explore. I am not sure if they would would have that material in your country but it you are interested PM me and I will send you a sheet to test out. Thanks Clete

Collection
latinmajorac,
Just wanted to throw in my compliments as well. . . You have an excellent looking display there! I think taking the time to care for and display your collection only adds enjoyment to the hobby. Let us know when you make some new additions. - Sean

Obviously, financial considerations come into play but I've rarely regretted NOT purchasing an easy to get medal as opposed to certainly regretting not biting the bullet on something more expensive. Even then, I'd suggest getting the easy to get medals as a documented group - which can even mean that you'll get them cheaper than if you get them all seperately! |

Tarnish from storage in presentation boxes
I've stored an Order of Friendship among Peoples, a Gold Hammer & Sickle Medal, and a Mother-Heroine Medal in their respective presentation boxes. When I recently looked at them, I've noticed a good deal of tarnish had developed on them. Does anyone know if this commonly happens? Is it the acid content of the wood pulp in the cardboard used to make the box?
