Re: Fake Order and Medal booklets

No Pogoni (shoulder boards) so no way to tell his rank.

Cheers, Ade.

Re: Fake Order and Medal booklets

Thanks! I suppose Vasilij was retired in 1961, it should be normal that he does not wear shoulder boards. Am I correct?

Re: Fake Order and Medal booklets

Since he was an officer, the 900K Red Star could well be a long-service award. These citations are not in the database.

Auke,

That can't be the case in this example because his second ORS (for which the citation is currently missing) was awarded in early 1945.

Re: Fake Order and Medal booklets

It is not clear to me when he joined RKKA. He seems having fought in Turkmenistan in 1919 and recruited in 1941 for the GPW. The CS was awarded in feb 1943, the 3 ORS respectively in August 1944, Feb 1945 (no citation) and May 1945.

You're right, I failed to look at the picture in post #561. It's actually his February 21, 1945 Red Star that's a long-service award, hence no citation.

Perfectly fine. Awarded by a Regional Military Commissariat.
