Re: Ribbons, Ribbon Bars And Order Of Precedence.
This one is pretty interesting, a pretty rare combination of awards:
The recipient has te GPW-2 Class and the Combat Service Medal ribbons, as well as the somewhat scarce Defense of the Soviet Transarctic ribbon. I assume he was someone from the Leningrad area judging by the 250 years of Leningrad ribbon (lowest left). That would make sense given the Arctic ribbon as well. Where things get interesting is his Black Metallurgy Enterprises of the South ribbon (third row down, rightmost ribbon) An interesting life indeed. Last edited by Pobeda45; 06-05-2013 at 09:06 PM. |

I just like this one. The recipient has both Victory of Germany as well as the Restoration of the Donbass Coal Mines ribbons. I improvised by adding the Donbass medal to the photoshoot. :thumbsup

Nice! These labor medals don't show up much in ribbon bars.

Thanks Paul! I especially like the one I posted right before, a pretty scarce mix! http://soviet-awards.com/forum/sovie...tml#post215966

Re: Ribbons, Ribbon Bars And Order Of Precedence.
While I can't argue about the Metallurgy award, the green-black one could be the medal "Capture of Konigsberg" (green black ribbon; the Donbass has yellow-black ribbon) which would be plausible if he was in the Baltic area. Still, it is quite a leap to go south after the war to restore factories. Perhaps he grew tired of the baltic weather.

Here is David Beard as KGB General Karpov in Peter Richardson's 1987 Film "Eat The Rich".
"Nosh" says "The only good Russian is a dead Russian" but this is more a case of a blind props designer.

Soviet Medal Ribbon Bar Owner Identification
Hi
I'm new to the forum but have collected Soviet memorabilia for many years. One item I would love to identify the owner of is this Soviet Medal Ribbon Bar, which I think is off a parade or walking out jacket due to the black backing. I'm also assuming it's from a fairly high ranking individual due to the ribbons displayed. Soviet medal ribbon bars at this level I believe are a bit like fingerprints unlikely there would be two alike. The medals include 2 orders of Lenin, 3 orders of the red banner, order of Suvorov 1st, 2nd and 3rd class, order of Kutuzov 1st and 2nd class, order of Bogdan Khelnitsky 1st and 3rd class, numerous other awards but the most interesting I believe is the medal for the tapping of the subsoil and expansion of the petrochemical complex of western siberia. I hoping with all the knowledge on this site someone maybe able to help me identify the owner of this impressive medal ribbon bar regards, Brian |

Re: Soviet Medal Ribbon Bar Owner Identification
Unfortunately it looks like a "tourist special" to me. A made up selection that is not in the correct order of precedence - not even caused by chronology of awarding.

I agree with above. Made up. Although exceptions can be found, black backing is not the best color to choose for a non-naval uniform.

Re: Soviet Medal Ribbon Bar Owner Identification
If only he had the Kiev and Polar Regions ribbons, then it would have been a full house of the campaign medals.
There can't have been too many people who were awarded all classes of Suvorov,2 Kutuzov and 2 Bogans out there. Does anyone know who was? As for this ribbon bar though, i agree with it being a jumbled assortment. Shame. |
