Alexei,

I agree with you that the seller should describe the item as best that they are able to,but in the end it is the buyers responsibility to know what he is buying.

Last year I saw an Order of the Great Patrotic War 1st Class sell on Ebay for almost $100.00 and this was for a Type3 1985 issue. This was the result of several bidders with incomplete knowledge believing this was a WWII issue. This is the fault of the bidders not the seller.

Happy huntig.

Thanks,Al

Al and Ed,

Of course ultimately it's Caveat Emptor.

Still in case of this type 3 the seller should've taken time to study the item he is selling. If it was described as a WWII Order then I believe it was misrepresented.

Alexei,

If I remember correctly the GPW was listed as a GPW 1st class without reference to WWII or 1985 issue. There were photos obverse and reverse and it was clearly a type 3.The serial number was also a clear give away.

Happy hunting.

Thanks,Al

The torch of dissinformation was transfered

To the seller on ebay who offer an order of Lenin and say:

"Soviet Order of Lenin.............

This treasure appraised in the range of $9,000-$10,000. "

Well, if the seller is so confident on his appraisal, we'd all better sell some of our Lenins to him.

I don't need him to pay me the $10,000 - I'll be happy with the half of what "it's worth" :D

Another eBay "classic"

Hurry up and make sure you don't miss this "treasure" on eBay!

"Order of Best WORKER Soviet Russian WWII

Old Soviet/Russian Order of Best Worker was awarded during WWII for gallantry in Work for Front. Attached with ribbon, beautifully made of pure silver, measures 3 3/4", ribbon has wear due to age. "

Another example of disinformation for Veteran of Labor medal. Starting bid $24.00 :(

Just makes me wonder how can you confuse an aluminum medal with "pure silver", unless it's a deliberate lie.

This one is totally wrong:

"Russian Gold Medal awarded to soliders for getting Germans out of Belgium during WWII. Back dated: 20 October 1944. Good condition"

That's how the seller describes Belgrade medal.

I think it's the same seller that was offering "Gold" Lenin medal.
