Re: My Soviet Patch Collection

Pastfinder,

Thanks for that valuable information. Please provide me with the ISBN of the [I]Russian Military Power [I] book. Is the [I]Soviet Uniform Guide[I] and commercially published book? If so, I'd would be grateful for its ISBN as well. Thanks.
Regards,
Jim

Re: My Soviet Patch Collection

Jim,

Patches, just like any other piece of uniform, were covered by specific regulations, which were published from time to time. From memory, there were M43, M55, M58, M64, M70, M74 and M88 (these are only the main ones, there were some specific ones for Tanks, Navy and Airforce).
And being for Soviet Army use, they do not have an ISBN number; they show up once in a while on E!, although much rarely these days.

Re: My Soviet Patch Collection

54Bty,

Those are real patches and not fantasy versions based on everything I have. Check to see if on the back of the patch there is any marking. Not all genuine patches are marked, but I have never seen a fake with any factory markings on it.

My latest patch from the Ukraine. Different marking to most of my other patches.

Re: My Soviet Patch Collection

As far as I know, none of the "CCCP" patches are real.

I actually three of these CCCP patches (red, green, and blue). The Green one is stamped by the factory on the back and numbered "72." I was told this patch is for a foreign observer/Soviet troops stationed or training abroad. I highly doubt these are not real. Considering the darker yellow plastic, of which fakes generally have extremely bright yellow plastic, I think this is a real piece.
