Christoph,Kim,
Great research!! Respect!! ;) I,ve Updated the top List, just one small problem with the dates, and that is I write them different to your list Kim. I write Day/Month/Year. and you write Month/Day/Year could you check and see if that,s correct what I have written. So what are we missing...........if there are 43 foreign HSU,s we are missing two unknown Polish HSU,s one Italian HSU and two compleatly unknown Heros. Plus the Question marks. This is looking good! :) We are not far away from having a compleat list of foreign Heroes, Brilliant! Kim, I hope you don,t mind me updating the list I started with your additional info. What do you think, when the list is finished at the end of the Thread we post one compleat list and delate the others. Eddie.

GREAT progress, guys. I am setting up a time to visit Wing Commander Sharma in Bangalore and study and photograph his group (and probably his backup as well).
More to come, Ed |

Eddie: The numbers seems ok. One thing I noticed was that you posted one Bulgarian twice:
Vladimir Stoyanov-Zayimov, Bulgaria, General, 5/30/1977 ? Vladimir Zaimov, Bulgaria, General, 30/5/1977 ? This is the same man, right date is 30/5/1972. I made a misstake with the year… You should also add: Georgi Ivanov, Bulgaria, Cosmonaut 13/4/1979 #10749 Muhammed Ahmed Faris, Syria, Cosmonaut 30/7/1987 I have the names of the three poles missing but only from the russian book. So spelling is not that good. Vladislav Vysotsky K., Poland, 11/11/1943 A. T. Kzhivon, Poland, 11/11/1943 Julius Hiobner, Poland, 11/11/1943 And the italian: Primo Dzhibelli, Italy 31/12/1936 (Who the hell is this???) I have not looked threw the Russian archives for this info… My sources are: Ordenskaya knizjka, HSU- number book Cavalier, magazine 1 http://www.spacefacts.de/ Of course I don't mind if this thread gets croped when we are done (if ever). Long threads are a pain in the *** if they just repeat the same info over and over. But we better make sure that we have a good list before anything gets deleted. /Kim |

Did you notice ?
Did you notice something quite astonishing ?
According to the previous posts, let's have a look to the SN and dates of awarding of the foreign HSUs : * #21 - 31.12.36 * #10708 - 24.11.65 * #11089 - 31.05.60 * #11124 - 23.05.63 * #11184 - 29.06.63 * #11218 - 03.04.64 * #11221 - 30.04.64 * #11224 - 13.05.64 * #11225 - 13.05.64 * #11281 - 31.05.77 * #11299 - 16.03.78 * #11303 - 10.09.78 * #11441 - 30.06.80 * #11444 - 31.07.80 * #11490 - 09.01.83 * #11584 - 07.09.88 Except the two first ones (#21 - 1936, and #10708), all other SN of foreign HSUs are in the #11000-11500 range. And this covers a period of 28 years (1960-1988) !! And globally the order has been respected !! (what is not always the cas ewith other orders). Does it mean that this 11000-11500 range has been dedicated to foreign awardees ? Any explanation or reason for this ? Thanks for your comments. Ch. |

According to my sources, Marcel Lefèvre is dead on 5 June 1944, and has been awarded (posthumously) the HSU only on 4 June 1945. Is it correct ? Can you doublecheck with your own sources ? Thanks. Ch. |
