Re: Ribbons, Ribbon Bars And Order Of Precedence.
Here is an example of a recipient having two individual "plastic" ribbons rather than one double. http://soviet-awards.com/forum/sovie...tml#post199491 No plastic on the Red Star though!

Re: Ribbons, Ribbon Bars And Order Of Precedence.
I was thinking today that now Crimea is "part of the Russian Federation" it will mean that all of their veterans will have to reposition their awards from the Ukrainian order of precedence to the Russian one.
Here is an example of a fairly average pre-2000 Ukrainian line-up. In the 15 years since most will have also received the 60th and 65th (and many also received the Ukrainian Order "For Courage" 3rd Class). To convert this line-up from Ukrainian to Russian the 3rd award (Liberation Of Ukraine) would be moved to last place (possibly behind the "For Courage") and the Medal Zhukov move up into 2nd position. If anyone sees any examples of the Crimean veterans embracing this Russian Order Of Precedence next week rather than the Ukrainian I'd be very interested to see (Even more so if there are also pictures of them formerly wearing the awards in a Ukrainian fashion).

Re: Ribbons, Ribbon Bars And Order Of Precedence.
If the awards' order of precedence wasn't/isn't enforced in veterans, which reason other than their own free will should motivate them to modify it?

Re: Ribbons, Ribbon Bars And Order Of Precedence.
Veterans' Organisations often enforce the order of precedence and correct wear of awards. They ensure the veterans are presented well and maintained in an honourable fashion.
No doubt folks from the Regional Commissariats will also aid supplying veterans with information on correct wear. Not long until they will be handing out 70th anniversary Medals which should mean lots of movement of awards on chests.

Re: Ribbons, Ribbon Bars And Order Of Precedence.
Here's another big bar to an officer, I keep buying these up. :thumbsup
5 screwbacks: two GPW-1 Class; 3 Red Stars! 2 Combat Service Medals Defense of Caucasus medal The recipient has the "800 years of Moscow" medal as well, always a great ribbon to see. Bottommost pair are from the Socialist camp, right now I am leaning to them being for Polish WW2 medals "Victory and Freedom" and "Oder, Nysa, Baltic Sea." George |

Re: Ribbons, Ribbon Bars And Order Of Precedence.
It's not Victory and freedom. If Polish (seems so) I would rather guess miscolored "For Warsaw" (although lack of "For Liberation of Warsaw" medal doesn't support that theory) or Cross of merit. Could also be Polonia Restituta cavaliers' Cross, but I find it less likely.
A nice bar anyway |

Re: Ribbons, Ribbon Bars And Order Of Precedence.
Hi guys, here's another new arrival, and possibly my favorite bar so far! :thumbsup
I've been really into ribbon bars lately and am thinking about authoring a book. However, I am stumped at what the foreign yellow bar with three green circles may be? Any suggestions are welcome. Judging by the Order of Glory, the recipient was a Private or a NCO during the war, and had a fruitful career after the war.

Re: Ribbons, Ribbon Bars And Order Of Precedence.
The strange yellow one has a DDR feel but I can't pinpoint it. The plain red ribbons will forever be unknown as there are far too many options. I can be quite confident in stating that it certainly won't be the Bulgarian Order "For Bravery".
