Re: Ribbons, Ribbon Bars And Order Of Precedence.
Thanks...I've perused almost every Eastern Block ribbon (with the exception of Asia) and have come up emptyhanded so far.

Re: Ribbons, Ribbon Bars And Order Of Precedence.
I have seen the ribbon right to the Leningrad Anniv. one in several ribbon bars, but I´ve never found what is it for.
Can it be for the GPW 25th anniversary badge?

Re: Ribbons, Ribbon Bars And Order Of Precedence.
Yup, likely the 1970 veteran's badge. I love the design...and when you can find the heavy brass issues, snap them up! :thumbsup
Still looking for what the yellow ribbon with three green circles (on the previous page) may be, any help appreciated. :thumbsup I assume the circles may be stars or extra ribbon devices. Here's another brass-and-plexi suspension bar that's kind of baffling. There's the Liberation of Prague medal in position 1, but otherwise no medals signifying military service--no VOG or veteran medals.. George |

Re: Ribbons, Ribbon Bars And Order Of Precedence.
I believe you have the second or even third and final row of awards. VOG etc all come before these.

Edit: yup, you're totally right--and this might even be the row above. (Found among other odds and ends...totally my miss) Thanks for helping me piece this together.

Re: Ribbons, Ribbon Bars And Order Of Precedence.
Here's another exciting arrival, as always all theories welcome. High ranking officer with no post-war service? Party functionary? Aviator? There are no top military orders present (Suvorov etc), nor are there long service medals.

Paper pusher sounds about right. Not party to the Leningrad affair.

Thanks, definitely a good theory....but he has all these Red Banners..and no labor awards of any kind. Yet, no real indication of post-war service past 1947. :)

Re: Ribbons, Ribbon Bars And Order Of Precedence.
I've seen similar groups to both political and logistical workers. That being said if it were a personal driver he must have really kept his mouth shut to get the top stuff. The 100th Anniversary does suggest service (to the state) in 1971. Labour or Military we just can't tell.
If he was a fly boy he did an exceptional job of getting what he wanted with the "military only" awards, as aviators frowned upon the Lenin for "being for farmers" and Hero Star for being the nail in the coffin. The Red Banner was for those wearing green and not those harvesting it.
