Yeah, ain't that somethin'????
Let's hope the prices continue to rise (for us inverstors and dealers) while good supplies of good deals can still be found for us collectors. Ya know, in addition to being a jack-of-all-trades I am also a "seer"; I can see the future*. I just checked Alexei's catalog for 2012 and here it is: - Hero Soc Labor medal w award book - $5750 - Hero Soc Labor medal w presentation box - $5000 - Order of Lenin w award book - $4500 - 5000 - Lenin - $4000 - Oct Revolution - $950 - Nevsky order - $3200 - Red Banner screwback - $1200 - Red Banner - $300-350 - Red Banner Labor screwback - $4500 - OPW 1st cl - $1500 - OPW 2nd cl - $300 - Glory 2nd cl - $1500 - Glory 3rd cl - $200 - Labor Glory 2nd cl - $1400 - Badge of Honor screwback - $950 - XX yrs RKKA medal - $1550 Better start buying now!!! Don't wait, phone lines are open and operators are standing by. Order before midnight tonight and get some free soviet socks*. * not really, I'm kidding

In a mail at about the same time, my Estonian friend quoted the following prices:
FIM = Finnish Mark, old pre-EUR currency of Finlandia: Red Banner - 120 FIM Red Banner Labor - 80-100 FIM Badge of Honour - 100 FIM ... Anniversary medals - 5-10 FIM each One USD was about 5-6 FIM in those days. |

For sure it was cheap at that time, because Russia was going through an Economy crisis since the summer of 1998. As we say in French : "Le malheur des uns fait le bonheur des autres", which could be roughly translated in "One person's misfortune is another's happiness". So during the hard time in Russia, Western collectors have build up pretty nice collections. Let's not forget this.
