Hi Kirchgoens
About your star - it's not something unusual
What you think is a cavity for screwpost base is often seen of red stars,
and the reason for it that they pre-drilled a hole before soldering screw,
sometimes drilling leaves these marks.

Scratches?

Hi mates,

what do you think of this red star? Are the scratches of the reverse suspicious of altering the serial number or something? Is it a fake?

Bye,
Javier

Nothing wrong with it. Typically a number is altered to make it below 100,000. I have a number that seems to have been from a lower number and was possibly made a higher number. The only reason I can imagine for that would be to replace a lost Star and the vet didn't want to deal with explaining how he lost his award.

The wonderful MzPP #2.085.998
Here it is in all it's naked glory!!! Purchased with an ugly bright red fingernail polish coat. But I stripped that baby and got to the nekked truth!

It doesn't have the classic sloppy handwritting but instead has what seems to be more like the typical writing from standard Moscow Mint.

What is the opinion of others?
Hi Jeff,

i think it's MZPP star. Compare mintmarks, style and position with this stars what Bill has posted.

BR,

Lauri

Hi mates,

I've just noticed that in all the types and variations shown in the digest in this site the bayonet aims between the C and O letters, except in the duplicate award, where it aims between the O and E. Is it true that only the duplicated ones have the bayonet aiming between O and E letters, or is it normal to have different directions of the bayonet in the same types/variations?

Regards,
Javier

Lauri,

The individual scans of the star do not correspond to that order book...

Hi Lapa!

Of course not, individual pictures are concave reverse star pictures. Star with ordenskaja knizka is on the separate picture. If it's needed i can scan also reverse of this star.
