How on earth can a border guards enlisted mans parade visor m/69 from the eighties cost over 100 dollars!

On offer is a Soviet KGB Border Guard Officers Peak Cap (very hard to get now). This one is from an East Germany based officer and is in very good condition (slight wear on the inside leather band).

Sovvisor is right though. For some reason certain people think there is something mystical about Border Guard stuff and bump the prices right up. I paid $30 for a M58 border guard cap in very good condition which I think is a good price. These M1969 caps are a lot more common and some jokers just don't realise this.
Oh well, the only comfort is that hopefully no-one will buy it and he will be forced to lower his prices.
I cannot help but smile when I see an item listed for an extortionate price and when nobody buys the item it is re-listed for slightly less. Then when nobody buys it again and again it comes down to a reasonable price.

Unless I'm mistaken, when I looked at the auction for the hat, it already had 8 bids on it, and was up at $108.!!!

Now THAT'S nuts!

I could not have put it better myself. The only concelation is the people who buy these items will one day find out that they have been well and truly ripped off. We all go through this learning curve as some point.....

Now...where's that spare border guard cap of mine? I might put it on Ebay with a starting price of £100!!!

...I hate these.

"This bid is for SOVIET RED ARMY Officer CAP w October pins set. If you want to add something interesting to your collection - don't waste your time & buy this rare item. YOUR FRIENDS ENVY YOU!! Such Caps Were The Parts of Officers and Soldiers Uniforms."

Opening bid is $9.99. These are supposed to be rare, even though the seller has about ten pilotkas on sale that look like that. Someone's already placed a bid, and the pilotka is ruined from all the pins. Nice.

Actually, These caps could be used for muscians or gaurds of honour if you can get the corwn cap device. The musicians cap deviceis easier to find that the guard of honour cap badge.
Of course, as you say, you can just replace the cap badge with the oval cockade and hey presto, you've got an officer's service cap.

Courtesy of French eBay

Here's a little gem I just unearthed on French eBay for everyone's viewing pleasure

OK, here's the translation, it's such a piece of litterature I wouldn't want anybody to miss it:
"This is a Russian Army officer's combat uniform (Commander) from the 1980's. Perfect condition (looks new).
Comprises: pants, jacket, hat. Fabric is 50% wool.
The hat has a star badge showing hammer and sickle.
The jacket has commander's boards and is adorned with authentic decorations:
Lenin Medal
2 Orders of the Red Star
Bravery Medal
Victory over Germany Medal
This is a rare and exceptional set, imported directly from Russia"

Now, where's the joke I hear you ask?

Here it comes:
Opening Bid: EUR 1000 (~ US$1100)
Buy It Now: EUR 1500 (~US$1650)

Enjoy

Marc
