Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star
Hey guys!
I'd like to know if it is possible that a Red Star S/N 827918 was issued in 1943. From what I've heard orders with that S/N should have been issued at least in 1944, so what do you think? I'll post some pics for you to check out the order itself, although I think they are not that useful (they were taken by the seller). The document is being offered, along with these medals, in ebay. Again, thank you all beforehand for your valuable information. Last edited by frandres; 01-04-2009 at 02:19 PM. |

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star
I can just tell you that ORS s/n 699k was issued in April 44, hence that RS was definately not issued in 1943. (The only rare possibility would be that it could, by a very very slim chances, be for actions in 1943..).

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star
There's a difference between the awarding date and the bestowing (issuing) date. Sometimes the gap between those two is small, and sometimes large. This Red Star could have been awarded in 1944 for actions in 1943.

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star
Yep but the doc actually says 1943 , would that date be the awarding or the issuing date?
It also says 1947 right beneath. I've put an image so that you can see. Regards, Francisco |

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star
The CSM was awarded in early '43 and the RS in '44 (probably late '44) according to Echoes Of War.

Could anyone tell me what do these dates in the booklet refer to? Because if they refer to the date when the RS was bestowed, (I'm talking about the first one -1943- ) then the document must be a fake. |

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star
Francisco,
The 1943 date indicates the date on which privileges begin (monthly stipend, etc). The 1947 date corresponds to the date the order booklet was issued. The person received his CSM in 1943; he then was awarded his ORS. In 1947, all awards were consolidated into one single book. The dates fit the story :thumbsup Marc |

Order of the Red Star
I haven't collected medals and badges for quite some time but after finding this forum, I am finding a new appreciation for the collection I have. I worked part time for a friend while I was in the Navy and he would show mw some interesting Soviet and Bulgarian medals and badges. Not being a very discriminating collector in those days, I would get whatever caut my eye. I feel that the soviet awards were works of art in each piece. I would like to share some of my collection with you all. thanks for viewing.
