Zippo is simply a name-brand of cigarette lighter. It gained much of its popularity in WWII with U.S. troops. The lighters are windproof and were in much demand.

On his uniforms, he could have also worn this star, as he has been awarded this Gold Star from the SRV (Vietnam) in June 1980.
This medal, established on June 6, 1947, is the highest honour conferred by the SRV on both individuals and units. It is equivalent to the HSU, although it in no way matches its quality or workmanship.
A total of 16 Gold Stars seem to have been awarded.

This picture was taken from a documentary film. This is the real Brezhnev showing his real uniforms and awards.
As to Gorbachev's awards, I seem to recall a discussion many years ago. I believe that he was awarded an ORBL, 3 OL and an OBH, plus various medals and foreign awards.
