I have come up with a mintage figure of 2,000 large silver medals dated 1939.
Pricewise, Eric's range sounds reasonable.

Alas the seller lead me astray.

I had 3,00 large and 15,000 small silver medals as my numbers for the 1939 exhibition.

The number on this one is over 3,000 so it must be a small one.

Any ideas on value - medal is in very good condition with apparently original suspension and monetny dvor fastening plate.

Two, or maybe three thousand is what I have as far as mintage goes. Either way it's a rare bird. But then again it's only the hardcore collectors that quest for this medal; it's not military valor, only labor glory and that's not "sexy" as far as most collectors go. I'd love to have one but I ain't droppin' a week's pay just to get one. Same goes for the gold grades.

For a legit, 1939 26mm... Depends how bad you want it. I'd start at $80 and quit just below $200. But that's your money I'm playing with, not mine. :)

I think I was watching that but can't find it now. What's the ebay number, please? In any event I think $174 is nuts for a broken medal. But the market bears what it can bear, I guess.
I paid about $60 for my undated, unnumbered, large silver medal recently and I had to haggle to get that price. So maybe with a 1940 medal being minted three time less maybe a price three times as high makes some sort of sense?
$200 isn't way off the mark. Try a lower offer and if it doesn't go, and you want it that bad, then 200 isn't an absurd overpayment by any means.
The suspension, ribbon and screwplate better be all good, though.
