Modern Russia is now different in restoring some Soviet symbols. The military can use the hammer and sickle on some things. It is claimed that it is part of the Russian Military heritage. Is a system where a commander is subordinate to a political officer realy going to work no. Restoring structure did solve the problem.

I seem to have started something here don't I, :-). You guys should have a read of "The Structure of Soviet History: Essays and documents" Edited by Ronald Grigor Suny, or anything by Dr Philip Boobyer (Medals73 will know why on the last one :-) ;-) ). These cover most of the points in question, about both re-tsarification and the structures of the former imperial and communist states. The other book which would interest you guys would be "The Impact of the Russian Revolution, 1917-1967; The influence of Bolshevism on the World Outside Russia" this has an interesting essay by Hugh Seton Watson, on Nationalism and Imperialism in it.

Re: Hi there
Welcome Commisar!
I started collecting around your age. Take advantage of it and absorb as many knowledge as you can from the forum´s 'heavyweights'!. It´s the best age to learn and all of them will be willing to help a new collector. Good hunting!
