the medal and document are good. The discoloration is only oxidation on the brass. Brendan:thumbsup

Re: Fake Medals for Victory over Germany and Japan
Hello Everyone,
I have a victory over Germany medal which I need comments on. Please see the pictures. I am really questioning this because if you notice the medal especially the front, the gold color seems to be coming off. Also the suspension piece looks new and like it is made out of sheet metal. The ribbon also looks kind of new. What do you think? |

Re: Fake Medals for Victory over Germany and Japan
There's nothing wrong with the suspension: it's a normal 60's through 80's one-piece aluminum suspenion. Whether or not it matches the period of the medal we cannot tell because your photos are FAR too small to get any details from them. Would you try photographing them again at a higher pixel dimension or maybe scan them on a flatbed scanner?

Re: Fake Medals for Victory over Germany and Japan
Hello Kirchgoens,
Here are some scans of the medal on a flatbed scanner. This is the best I could do so that I could remain within the file attachment guidelines for the forum. If better picture are needed, maybe you could give me some hints on how to get high quality photos of medals onto the forum. The standard file size my photos are taken at is between 2 and 3 megapixels. David |

Re: Fake Medals for Victory over Germany and Japan
It's still too hard to make the call. Try cropping the scan closer to the medal. You've left a lot of white space around the medal, which is significantly wasting your file space. Crop it close, and then you can get a much larger-looking image.
What very little I can tell makes this possibly look like a 60's through 80's V3 issue of the VoG. If so, that matches the suspension, and all is probably good. Still, you've got to improve the posted images to make a call on this. |
