Re: Badge of honor.
If so then it gives it a bit of history in itself dont you think? I can imagine some pensioner in the mid 1990's selling off this order for a little bread and butter on his table. I once read a story about a HSL selling off his awards just for money for prescription drugs.

Order of the Badge of Honor dating?
Hello guys!
My dad brought this OBH for me from a large militaria market (is this the right word for it in English?), for the people who are familiar with this, it was at Ciney. SN: 253.817 Can anyone tell me what the approximate dating is for this piece? Or is this impossible? And is there any other info available for this medal? With the help of your website I found out it is a 'type 4 variation 1'. Thanks in advance! PS: If you need more/better pictures, please let me know. Last edited by dwayne; 05-03-2011 at 10:47 AM. |

Re: Order of the Badge of Honor dating?
In general there are different types of this order. This is the type with ribbon like it was given after 1943, first with a flat reverse.
Maybe this would help: Орден "ЗНАК ПОЧЕТА" - 1 |

Thanks for the help, MarvWe! Very interesting link (I had to use a website translator though :D). I assume the SN can be a clue for dating?

Re: Order of the Badge of Honor dating?
My guess would be late 1950s. It is a nice award, I like the Badge of Honor for its true socialist appearance.

Re: Order of the Badge of Honor dating?
Thanks Tretov! I agree on the design. I especially like the heroic images on some of the Soviet awards, including this one.

I agree with Tretov too. The badge of honour is together with the Red Banner of Labour one of the nicest awards of socialist Russia. :)

Cool award maybe this order will be the beginning of a great collection for you. Once you get one order must get the rest! Ans then work on different variations good luck!

Dwayne,
OBH #261258 was awarded on 1 October 1965, so I'd say that yours would probably be somewhere about 1962~3. Marc Last edited by Lapa; 05-04-2011 at 09:30 AM. |
