He was born in Chernobyl
But, it does not mean that the order was for Chernobyl.

Hello Friends,

i bought the official Chernobyl badge ("for participant in liquidation of the Chernobyl NPP accident consequences") a few days ago. I do not know very much about these topics, but i read that it is hard to find the official documents to this badge.

I saw that a few of you have such documents. Do you have any tipps for me how to search for them? And how did you get them?

The best advice is just to be patient and have the funds ready in reserve.

These come up very rarely "in the west", unlike the Badges that are always available in bulk. Just keep an eye open and be prepared to wait months or years unless you have limitless funds.

It all depends on where you find it. Looking "on the ground" in the former USSR may have it presenting itself for pennies. High end western online sites may be charging 3 figures.

At the end of the day it is all down to how long you are willing to wait, willing to spend and willing to search.

This is my friend and neighbor, - Akimov Evgeniy Mikhailovich. The Order of Red Banner of Labour is for Chernobyl.

I also know that some of his friends were awarded the Order of Courage by Putin.

Where i live, every year children from the affected area come and stay with local families over here for holidays and some fresh Yorkshire air :)

Last year some people involved in the clean up came and spoke about the disaster at a local Russian & Ukrainian intrest group meeting which was interesting.
